Hello world!
July 2, 2009Do You Love Interleague Play?
June 13, 2009I’m a sucker for new exciting matchups. Screw Chien-Ming Wang, if you can’t run the bases as a professional athlete you don’t deserve to collect the paycheck.
I think interleague play in Major League Baseball is awesome. Here’s 3 highlights from some incredible games last night!
The Mets should have taken game 1 of the Subway Series

June 13, 2009Climbing Out of a Hole
June 13, 2009What a train wreck.
I’m a die hard O’s fan, I live and die with them. I was loving life a couple weeks ago when the Orioles were doing everything right and now I’m dreading covering the team for BSR.

What is going on?
Are there any signs of life in the Oriole clubhouse?
It’s a building season. I know. But the way the Birds are losing makes the situation even more frustrating.
Dave Trembley is clearly upset, but he doesn’t really seem to have an answer for the problem
The Downward Spiral Continues…
June 12, 2009I don’t know about you, but I’m getting tired of hearing Joe Angel say that the Orioles are in the loss column.
It’s kind of becoming an every night occurrence.
(Sigh)
I feel like everyone is down. I’m searching and searching for something good about this game.
…Matt Wieters had a couple hits.
…B-Rob has had a double 4 nights in a row.
…We tied the Braves in hits.
…28,469 showed up That was mostly Hotlanta fans…
I’ve got nothing.
Jason Berken has looked a little shaky. He’s now 1-3 with a 7.32 ERA after his 4.1 innings and 4 earned runs.
Three O’s relievers that I don’t trust pitched during this game. Matt Albers, Alberto Castillo, and Mark “I should’ve stayed in the NBA” Hendrickson. Castillo allowed a run and Hendrickson allowed two.
The O’s bats just aren’t working. I like how they started the game: Roberts had a double and stole 3rd. He was later driven in my Adam Jones, but they haven’t scored more than 3 runs in 10 of their last 11.
Is anybody alive in the O’s clubhouse?

Luke Scott's Diary: 6/12/2009
June 12, 2009Have you ever seen Luke Scott write in his journal after a plate appearance? BSR got lucky enough to take a look at his latest entry and we’re going to share it with you here.
Check out Luke’s entry from June 1st.

M's Take Rubber Game
June 12, 2009Last night the Orioles sent Koji Uehara to the hill to win the 3 game series against the Seattle Mariners and even up the season series at 3 games. Koji returned off the disabled list to make the start and the O’s sent down David Hernandez so he can keep a starters schedule.
Unfortunately, the Orioles had lost 3 straight series finales and 8 of their last 9 overall going into last night’s game and hadn’t scored more than 3 runs in a game against the M’s this year.
So why should anything be any different?
The O’s took an early 2-0 lead when Luke Scott hit his 14th homerun of the season coming off of Garrett Olson. The former Oriole looked as though his early struggles would do him in, but in the end he had a better start than Koji.
In the 3rd inning the game went into a 27 minute rain delay and when the game resumed it was all down hill.
The M’s added 3 in the 3rd, 1 in the 5th, and 2 in the 7th.
This is just the wrong way to lose games.

Stadium Review: Nationals Park
June 12, 2009Even though it’s just a short ride from Baltimore, I have never been to Nationals’ Park. I’ve heard all about it, seen it on MASN, and watched the O’s take 2 out of 3 from DC earlier this year, but I never attended a game.

I took the train into DC, driving there isn’t exactly pleasant. The green line drops you right off outside the park and it still has that “new look” to it.
Arriving to Nationals Park without a ticket is no problem. I walked up to the window on Monday for a game vs. the San Francisco Giants in which Tim Lincecum was the starting and had no problem purchasing $5 seats.

June 11, 2009Boy, Jeremy Guthrie has really struggled this year. I thought I liked the WBC, but Guthrie just hasn’t been Guthrie in 2009 and his ERA is up to 5.52.
Jeremy fell to 4-6 with the loss in his 6 inning, 6 hit, 4 run outing.
But, it was Felix Hernandez that won the game for the M’s. Hernandez held the Orioles to just 1 run in 7 innings. The run scored when Brian Roberts drove in Matt Wieters with an RBI single in the 5th.
Both Roberts and Wieters had good days at the plate (I like typing that). B-Rob was 3 for 4 with a lead off double and Matt was 2 for 4 with his second double of the year.
Tonight the O’s send Koji Uehara to the mound, fresh from the DL and Seattle counters with former Orioles’ pitcher Garrett Olson in the rubber game of the 3 game series at Camden.
